Our Story
Warner Hall House was formed in 1982 when President Spencer of Davidson College approved the house on February 5, 1982. The house had its first 61 members the following Fall Semester. Warner Hall’s first president and founder, Connie Kyle, decided to name the house after the first senior minister at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC because of his dedication and love for Davidson College. The first members met where the Outpost was once located, and the house moved to its current location in 1991. Today, Warner Hall House serves primarily as a dining organization and social club and seeks to facilitate friendship and fellowship among its members through meals, social events, and other activities. It also provides women at Davidson College with opportunities in leadership and service.
In 2004, Warner Hall House selected HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention to be the main focus of our service and fundraising efforts. Warner Hall is currently partnered with two organizations: the Regional Aids Interfaith Network (RAIN) in Charlotte, North Carolina and the Mwandi Christian Mission Hospital in Zambia, Africa. Each year, Warner Hall hosts several HIV/AIDS awareness fundraising events. Our service efforts conclude with our annual Red and Black Ball in December, which features a live band, silent auction, raffle, and desserts bar. Our funds have helped the Mwandi Hospital build a new emergency room and intensive care unit and also sponsored RAIN’s support services to persons living with HIV/AIDS in the greater Charlotte area. We are proud to announce that 2017's Red and Black Ball was held on Saturday, November 4th and raised upwards of $40,000 for our beneficiaries! We can't wait to see what this year brings!
